I cannot believe that two months have gone by since my last posting. Sorry to all my fan out there!
So much has happened and is happening. This posting is going to be a little formulaic.
Ok so with Char: We had the meeting with the school district and it actually went pretty well. We got more than we wanted (shocking I know) and yes, they did actually deliver. Char has had a tutor for two hours a week to keep her organized and get her work in. The tutor has been pretty awesome and has helped Char a lot. I have actually seen her open up books and study for the first time in four years!!! We still don't know if she is going to graduate until her finals come back. Yes, that is how close she is to not graduating. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
She still has not much with MCC or the Army, but she is finding out she is running out of time. She is off to Camp Cutler (cub scout camp) four days after graduation. Monday we are going to the Army recruiter to hand in her medical paperwork and for her to ask some more questions. Hopefully by the time I get home she will have made an appointment to take her math placement test so we can get her registered and signed up for classes.
Jaimison - His teacher, Jaime and I have really worked hard with him to get him to grade level. He is doing really great. He is right where he wants to be. The school is putting him a watch list for the beginning of the year, so no matter if there are any changes in the faculty he will not slip through the cracks (like I would ever let that happen).
He is doing really well in baseball this year. He loves batting when he is pitched to and just got his first ball out to outfield. He was so happy that none of the kids got to his ball. He loves playing catcher and his catching and throwing is doing so well. Jaime is the assistant coach. We are having a little issue with the director, but nothing too major just politics (which I looooove so much).
Now for Toria: We had an appointment with Strong to get Toria evaluated, but they cancelled it without our knowledge. Then when I tried to call them out on it, they said that we never had an appointment. Now we have an appointment in November (a whole year since we have been trying to figure out this whole thing!!). The good news is that our good friend Dee gave us an awesome website that gave us a good lead at Rochester General. I already filled out the intake forms and faxed them over to them. They said that they will review them and then call me next week for an appointment. I asked when they were making the appointments. I started to cringe waiting for the answer. They told me August. I asked "of this year?" The receptionist laughed and said "yes, why?". I told her what happened at Strong and she said she heard that about them.
Even though it seems like we are moving forward with Toria, it sometimes feels that we are in a holding pattern. I feel that there is going to be another big blow up. Part of that is because her dad has not seen her in about three months or so (I lost track as I am so happy). Jaime and I have been really working hard to figure out how to communicate with her (email works best, but she likes to text and chat online). I am afraid that if he sees her even for one weekend, that will all go down the drain. I finally figured out how to communicate with my daughter. We are finally having talks like I do with Char and I did with my mom. I finally finding out what she likes and dislikes, her sense of humor and what is going on in her day. The only glimmer of hope I have is that she is not happy with him. Not sure how long that is going to last, but I am cherishing every minute I have.
That's it about now. Char starts finals this week. Toria and Jaimison are still in school and finish the week of 20th. Char (fingers crossed) graduates on June 22nd which is also Jaime and my 9th anniversary. Where does the time go? In just three short months I will have a high school graduate, possible freshman in college or a daughter in the Army, a ninth grader and a 2nd grader reading chapter books and on the journey of not needing his mom as much. A lot of changes, but a lot of good times and adventure.
